Wedding of Esther & Santi
Hotel Vincci SohoThis Monday we’re kicking off a new week, and also a new season of weddings ! Last Saturday we wrapped up the weddings we’ve organized during this 2014, so it’s time to switch gears and think about next year’s weddings (and rest a little too, at least on weekends).
A day like today feels a bit like “new year”, or like September 1st. A fresh start, as I was saying this morning on Facebook. A day to think about new resolutions and projects I’ve been putting off on my To Do’s list, after many months with a workload so intense it hasn’t let me think about anything but the next wedding. Of course, getting back to the blog is right at the top of that list of good intentions, so I’ll be waiting for you here 🙂
And, what better way to start this new chapter than with the amazing shots that Diego García Márquez took of the
wedding
from September 20th? Esther & Santi are a fantastic, really fun couple, who fully trusted us to make real the wedding idea they had in mind: a celebration in the center of Madrid, with a very personal civil ceremony, followed by an elegant and original party inspired by the world of cinema.
Honestly, it’s a genuine pleasure to be able to do weddings like this one, that break away from the usual, and let me innovate and create different settings. And of course I feel very lucky to have clients who, like this couple, have made me very happy by us for the organization of their wedding, and who have given me many good moments on a personal level too.
Esther looked spectacular in a Pronovias gown, and Santi wore a tailor-made suit that put a twist on the classic tuxedo, giving it his own personal touch, designed by the ready-to-wear fashion brand founded by this couple: Le Smoking.
From the moment I told them about the Hotel Vincci Soho the couple knew it would be the perfect place to host the wedding Esther&Santi had in mind, and that’s exactly how it turned out. Its modern aesthetic, its location right in the Barrio de las Letras, and the chance to hold the ceremony and cocktail hour in its outdoor courtyard, were exactly the qualities we were looking for.
For the couple’s entrance at the ceremony an accordion player performed the main theme from the Amélie soundtrack, and as the backdrop for this couple’s I Do, we set up a huge heart made of red pompoms on the wall.
The photocall and the wedding signage is a design I made myself at the couple’s request, inspired by a Broadway theater. The overall decor was based on the use of candles outdoors -since the wedding was held in the late afternoon-, and once inside the party room we set up a bar with sweet and savory snacks to go along with the open bar, and to complete the look we used collages with posters of this couple’s favorite films.
And that’s all for today. As always when I write a post about one of the weddings I’ve organized, I say goodbye thanking Esther & Santi from the bottom of my heart for their trust, and for allowing me to share the snapshots of their most special day on the blog.
All the photographs in this post were taken by Diego García Márquez.
